Cory Kidd

Ph.D MAS – Alumni

Cory finished his Ph.D in January 2008 and was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. He has begun a company called Intuitive Automata, Inc to commercialize his weight management robot. Cory received his S.M. in Media Arts and Sciences in May 2003. His research interests include designing experiments to characterize people’s perception of robots and how this compares to other media technologies. In particular, his Ph.D work explores how to design for a long-term beneficial relationship between people and robots in areas such as weight management. Before coming to the Media Lab, Cory graduated with a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he also spent one year after graduation managing the then newly-opened Aware Home Laboratory and teaching computer science. Cory’s past experiences outside of academia include working for Nortel Networks, Scientific Research Corporation, and in the Georgia State House of Representatives.
