Sonia Chernova

Postdoctoral Associate

Sonia Chernova is a postdoctoral associate at the MIT Media Lab, working with Cynthia Breazeal and the Personal Robots group. Her research interests focus on interactive learning techniques that enable robots to learn from human teachers. Her current projects focus on the development of social robots that leverage observations of human behavior to learn how to assist and collaborate with people in a natural, engaging and effective way.
Sonia also currently holds an adjunct assistant professor position in the Computer Science Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and will be joining WPI as a full time assistant professor in the fall of 2010. She received her B.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2009) degrees in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.
