Kenton Williams was born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois. He graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. His undergraduate research focused on implementing an energy-based control technique on a 3-D, biped walking robot.
Kenton is a 2008 Ford Foundation Fellow and is currently pursuing a masters degree at the MIT Media Laboratory in the Personal Robotics Group. His interests include designing control systems for biomimetic and bio-inspired robots.
